A large, brightly coloured mall

The Emerald City district in Suzhou, is a space dedicated to leisure and shopping, thanks to an abundance of hotels, shopping centres and restaurants.

In Lvbao Square, the main mall in the area has created an open air space with a festive, brightly coloured lighting system, designed by Paul Gunawan’s Litac Consultant studio.

The mall’s facade is clad with a high gloss polymer, PTFE, facing that features a distinctive wavy border. Given the unique characteristics of this material, it is lit with Platea Pro floodlights fitted with various accessories for controlling glare and reducing surface reflections. The colour changes are controlled by a DMX system. The cube-shaped structure that rises above the centre's roof has a skin structure consisting of a series of textured panels, which create an exciting range of light and shadow effects when lit with the grazing light effect produced by iGuzzini's Linealuce Mini luminaires. Indoors, Reflex recessed luminaires have been used to create homogeneous, diffused lighting in a pure white environment dominated by curved lines.
